Bridgewater, New Jersey – Minor League Baseball has announced that Somerset Patriots right-handed pitcher Jhony Brito has been named their Double-A Eastern League Pitcher of the Week for April 25 to May 1.
Brito started his fourth game of the season on Sunday afternoon, May 1 and pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing only two baserunners to reach, on one hit and one walk.
It's the second time in Brito's career that he has been awarded Pitcher of the Week Honors. He was also named the High-A East Pitcher of the Week in 2021, while playing for the Hudson Valley Renegades during the week of July 26.

Brito's dominant effort came as part of a 5-0 win over The Portland Sea Dogs, which was the Patriots' second shutout win of the 2022 season.
After his shutout performance on Sunday, Brito has now hurled 12 consecutive scoreless innings, lowering his season ERA to 0.89, which ranks second in the Eastern League.
Coming out of the game, Brito helped improve Somerset's staff ERA to 2.55 and WHIP to 1.11, both serving as the best marks in all of Minor League Baseball.
The Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic native was a free agent signing of the Yankees on November 9, 2015. Brito is currently in his fifth Minor League season and his second with the Somerset Patriots.
