Patriots Host Record-Breaking School Field Trip Day

Bridgewater, New Jersey – The Somerset Patriots, the New York Yankees Double-A affiliate, hosted their highest attended School Field Trip Day at TD Bank Ballpark on Wednesday, May 18.

The Patriots welcomed 7,178 fans to the 11:05 am game against the Reading Fightin Phils (Philadelphia Phillies. Over 4,500 total group tickets were sold to local schools looking to bring the kids out of the classroom for a little fun, baseball and STEM education.

Through a community partnership with Sanofi US and Students 2 Science, the event included different STEM displays, activities and opportunities for students to participate and learn while at the game.

With the large number of students in attendance, HomePlate Catering and Hospitality, the official caterer of the team, sold over 3,000 pre-purchased bagged lunches. Those numbers included over 600 hot dogs and 300 pizza pies, good for over 2,400 slices.

Over 100 school buses were on site to safely deliver and pick up the participating schools.

The previous attendance record for a School Field Trip Day was 7,151 set on May 26, 2016.
