The Somerset Patriots were defeated by the Hartford Yard Goats 5-4 in walk-off fashion on Friday night in Hartford, CT.

The Opening Day loss marked Somerset’s first in Double-A franchise history, falling to 4-1 on Opening Day.

The Patriots were held without a baserunner for the first five innings of the game, before four straight batters reached to start the sixth inning and they grabbed a 2-1 lead.

RHP Cam Schlittler (5.2 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 7 K, 1 HR) made his 2025 season debut by pitching into the sixth inning. Schlittler did not allow a run over his final five innings pitched in the game.

1B Dylan Jasso (1-for-4, R, K) collected his first Double-A hit in the seventh inning.

LF Garrett Martin (1-for-3, R, BB) legged out an infield single to lead off the sixth inning to earn his first Double-A hit, when he became the Patriots’ first baserunner of the game.

SS Jake Gatewood (2-for-3, 3 RBI, BB, K) reached base three times in his Yankees organizational debut. He gave Somerset its first lead of the game with a two-run single in the sixth inning, before adding another RBI-single in the seventh inning.

Gatewood's sixth inning single signaled his first hit in affiliated baseball since September 23, 2022.
