WWE Hall of Famer Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake Appearance On July 6
Bridgewater, New Jersey – The Somerset Patriots, the New York Yankees Double-A affiliate, have announced that WWE Hall of Famer Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake will appear at the Thursday, July 6 game at TD Bank Ballpark. The Patriots take on the Reading Fightin Phils (Philadelphia Phillies) at 7:05 pm.
Bridgewater, New Jersey – The Somerset Patriots, the New York Yankees Double-A affiliate, have announced that WWE Hall of Famer Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake will appear at the Thursday, July 6 game at TD Bank Ballpark. The Patriots take on the Reading Fightin Phils (Philadelphia Phillies) at 7:05 pm.
Beefcake will be meeting fans, taking pictures and signing autographs on the main concourse during the game. The autographs are free of charge, but are limited to one item per person so he can accommodate as many fans as possible.
A popular superstar during WWE’s national expansion in the 1980s, Beefcake was a flamboyant hairdresser that clipped the locks of WWE rivals with his trademark shears. His role as “The Barber” began after WrestleMania III when he helped Rowdy Piper cut the hair of Adrian Adonis in a Hair vs. Hair Match before more than 93,000 fans in attendance.
From there on in, Beefcake would take down his opponents with a sleeper hold and then cut off their hair with candy-striped garden sheers to the fans’ delight.
He took on rivals like The Honky Tonk Man and Mr. Perfect, while headlining events alongside Hulk Hogan and Randy “Macho Man” Savage at Summer Slam ’89 and WrestleMania IX.
As a member of the Dream Team, Beefcake won the World Tag Team Championship with Greg “The Hammer” Valentine in 1985.
He suffered severe injuries in a parasailing attack in 1990 that derailed his rising career. When he returned to the WWE in 1991, Beefcake hosted his own popular talk show segment entitled, “The Barber Shop.”
Beefcake later joined Hogan in WCW and competed as several different characters. For his long wrestling career, Beefcake was enshrined in the WWE Hall of Fame with the Class of 2019.
