"I don't really pay too much attention to the stuff outside of my control," Volpe recently said on YES Network. "It's definitely an honor and one I don't take lightly, but at the same time, I just want to be the best player I can possibly be. Whether that's an unranked bottom-of-the-order prospect or where I am now, the Yankees' No. 1 prospect, I think I still have a long way to go to reach my potential."

Volpe began the 2021 season at Low-A Tampa and slashed .302 with 60 hits, 18 doubles, five triples, 12 home runs, 49 RBI and 21 stolen bases over 60 games. In addition, he carried a .455 on-base percentage and a .623 slugging percentage.

Volpe continued his dominance at High-A Hudson Valley, where he had a .286 average with 61 hits, 17 doubles, 15 home runs and 49 RBI in his 55 games played.

In their scouting report, Baseball America said Volpe has an “innate ability to square up and produce quality contact.”

The Watchung native was drafted by New York in the first round (30th overall) of the 2019 MLB Draft out of Delbarton High School in Morristown.
