WHAT IS HAPPENING?
The Springfield Cardinals are rebranding after the 2026 Minor League Baseball season. The team will have a new name, logos and jerseys.

IS THIS PERMANENT?
The new team name, which will be our primary name, will be permanent. This rebrand is unlike the Springfield Cashew Chickens or the Ozarks Snipe Hunters which are alternate identities that are used less frequently.

IS THE TEAM LEAVING SPRINGFIELD?
The team is not leaving. Our home ballpark will continue to be Route 66 Stadium in Downtown Springfield, Missouri. We love our fans and community and we aren’t going anywhere.

WILL THE TEAM STILL BE AFFILIATED WITH THE ST. LOUIS CARDINALS?
Yes. We will continue to be the proud Double-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals. Our affiliation with St. Louis is strong and will be for years to come. That has always been and will continue to be an important part of our franchise’s history.

WHY IS THE TEAM DOING THIS?
There has been a lot of change in our industry since our team was founded in 2005. Teams have found it more important to connect with their community instead of using their MLB affiliate’s marks. In 2005 there were 22 teams who had the same team name as their parent club. In 2027 that number will be down to eight. Four of those eight teams have MLB owners.

WHAT IS THE NEW NAME/WHEN WILL YOU ANNOUNCE?
We can’t share those details just yet, so stay tuned! We will unveil our new name, logos and jerseys at a free brand launch party at Route 66 Stadium on Tuesday, October 6. More information will be released in the coming weeks.

HAS THE NEW NAME ALREADY BEEN CHOSEN?
Yes, the new name and identity has already been chosen and we’re excited to share that with everyone on Tuesday, October 6. We wanted an identity that represented our community. We considered our fan base heavily when choosing our new identity. We also had to consider trademark availability and other legal processes when selecting a new name.

WHY DID YOU ANNOUNCE THIS NOW?
We felt it best to allow fans the chance to celebrate our 22 years as the Springfield Cardinals. Over the final 12 regular season home games, the Cardinals will have special in-game programming and fan experience opportunities. Fans can add their names to a large signing wall which will become a permanent fixture at the ballpark. The final four giveaways will be commemorative giveaways and the final three games will feature specialty baseballs.

WHAT WON’T CHANGE?
In reality, most things will be staying the same. Our stadium, our affiliation with St Louis, our focus on affordable entertainment for everyone, our staff, our values and our involvement in the community will not change.
