Sold out crowd of 10,300 see Hens top the Bats 7-2 on Monday!

June 27, 2011

A sold out crowd of 10,300 watched The Toledo Mud Hens defeat the Louisville Bats, 7-2, on a beautiful Monday afternoon at Fifth Third Field. Timo Perez led the charge offensively as he went 3-4 with a home run, a double and three RBI. RHP Thad Weber (4-6) pitched well in his 16th start of the season and collected the win after giving up two runs in 7.0 innings pitched.

The Mud Hens (32-47) tallied the game's first run on a RBI ground out by Perez. Perez added another run in the third with a solo homer that easily cleared the wall in right field.

Louisville (44-35) knotted the game at 2-2 thanks to a two-run home run by Todd Fraizer.

However, the Hens would not denied and tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the seventh on RBI doubles by Perez and Ryan Strieby to take a 4-2 lead. Perez's seventh inning RBI was his third of the game.

Toledo added three insurance runs in the eighth after Strieby was plunked by a pitch with the bases loaded and a Scott Thorman single plated two to put the Mud Hens ahead 7-2.

RHP Enrique Gonzalez worked a scoreless ninth inning to lock down the 7-2 win for the Mud Hens.

The Mud Hens travel to Columbus to take on the Clippers on Tuesday and Wednesday in a short two-game series. The Hens return home May 30-July 3 for a four-game homestand against Columbus and the Indianapolis Indians.
