Wilk honored with Helping Hens Service Award!
Pitcher Adam Wilk was excellent for the Mud Hens in 2012 -- his 2.77 ERA was fourth-best in the league. While Wilk made a huge impact on the mound for the Hens, his biggest impact was of the summer was his service to the community. Among Adam's many contributions:
- Spoke during the Drug Education Program about the importance of making positive choices and following their dreams.
- Visited sick children at the hospital to give them encouraging words.
- Taught young hopefuls the fundamentals of baseball at camps
- Made numerous school and summer camp visits, signing autographs and playing baseball with local children.
To honor Adam's community work, the Mud Hens are making a $500 donation in Adam's name to the charity of his choice.
Pitcher Rob Waite was also recognized for his community service. Rob made numerous school and summer camp visits during the 2012 season. Children admired his enthusiasm and positive attitude when he came to visit. Rob worked with local youngsters at Mud Hens baseball camps and spoke during a pregame drug awareness program about the dangers of alcohol and substance abuse.
