Wilmington, DE- We all know the importance of vegetables in our everyday lives. However, no vegetable might be as important as Mr. Celery, a fan favorite with the Wilmington Blue Rocks and one of the most popular food figures in all of Minor League Baseball. That is why the Wilmington Blue Rocks, sponsored by Chase Bank, in partnership with the Food Bank of Delaware and Habitat for Humanity of New Castle County, will be holding a Celery-bration on Monday, July 31 when the Blue Rocks take on the Buies Creek Astros at 6:35 p.m. at Frawley Stadium.
The Celery-bration will honor the popular Mr. Celery in conjunction with striking out hunger and providing a fun way to remind fans the importance of healthy eating. The Blue Rocks will be giving away celery stalks to the first 1,000 fans, while one lucky fan will win a year supply of celery!
In addition, a Celery Bar will be open on the concourse, serving the popular vegetable for celery connoisseurs, along with assorted dips from peanut butter to buffalo chicken dip. Fans are also encouraged to wear the color green as the Blue Rocks, Chase Bank, Food Bank of Delaware and Habitat for Humanity of New Castle County look to "Green Out Hunger."
There will also be fresh celery themed in-game promotions, live paintings, celery eating contests, and more!
The Wilmington Blue Rocks begin a three-game homestand on Monday, July 24 as they welcome the Salem Red Sox to Frawley Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. with RHP
