Rocks Announce G. Fedale Roofing and Siding to Donate New Roof to All Three Finalists

Originally Slated For One Winner, RBI Promo Expands Grand Prize to Three Worthy Recipients
May 4, 2016

Wilmington, DE -- Due to the overwhelming response of Blue Rocks fans as well as the incredible generosity of G. Fedale Roofing and Siding, the Wilmington Blue Rocks are very pleased to announce that all three finalists of the RBI Promotion (Roof Benefiting an Individual) will receive a new roof. Originally slated to go to a single winner, G. Fedale Roofing and Siding was moved by the over 80,000 impressions and 4,500 interactions on the Blue Rocks' social media pages generated by the personal stories of the promotion's three finalists.

"The leadership team here at G Fedale couldn't help but be moved by the inspirational stories of all three of our finalists," said Allen Fedale on behalf of his entire staff. "We knew in our hearts that we needed to do more. Though we had not anticipated installing three new roofs, we believe it is the right thing for us to do. We are confident that our contribution to each one of these families will have a significant impact on their lives moving forward--providing a new roof that will last for many years to come while protecting what matters most."

Fans were asked to enter either at BlueRocks.com or at any Blue Rocks home game between April 7 and April 20. All entrants submitted a picture of their current roof, as well as their name, address, email, phone number and a brief explanation why they needed a new roof. The three finalists were selected by G. Fedale Roofing and Siding, and those entries were placed on the Blue Rocks social media pages. The entrant who generated the most collective likes, shares, comments and re-tweets between April 21 and April 27 was deemed the winner.

That was Erin Ryan, whose husband Tim is battling stage 4 cancer. As a result, Erin has been working full-time as a teacher as well as raising the couple's two young children and caring for her ailing husband. Their home is in desperate need of a new roof, but the family has been pouring all of their resources into Tim's fight against cancer.

"We are pleased to stand with the winner of our competition, Erin Ryan and her family," Fedale said. "While this is a difficult time for her and her children, we hope that the response from the community of love, support and prayers will be a huge encouragement. It is our honor and privilege to provide a new state-of-the-art roof for the Ryan family that will provide a safe and secure home for them for many years to come. While there may be challenges and uncertain circumstances for the Ryan family to address, we are thankful that a new roof will be one less thing for them to worry about. We can't think of a family more worthy of receiving our grand prize."

The other finalists were Sofia Denisio--who is out of work while she is undergoing chemotherapy treatments for colon cancer--and Nancy Lemus-- whose family spent all of their savings on making their home accessible for their disabled young son.

Erin and her family will be honored during an on-field ceremony before the Blue Rocks' May 6 game against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. Tickets are available to that and every other Blue Rocks games in 2016 by calling 302-888-BLUE or online at BlueRocks.com.
