WINSTON-SALEM, NC (September 3rd, 2023) - The Winston-Salem Dash fell to the Rome Braves in the home finale of 2023, 8-4, Sunday evening at Truist Stadium in front of 7,145 fans.

Winston-Salem (60-61) carried the momentum from game five into the early innings on Sunday. Loidel Chapelli led the game off with a double and scored on an RBI single giving the Dash a 1-0 lead. In the second, Winston-Salem wasted no time adding to its advantage. Chris Lanzilli singled to lead off the inning, and next batter Wes Kath demolished the first pitch he saw, blasting it over the wall in right giving the Dash a 3-0 lead.

In the third, Rome (61-65) answered back. The first two runners in the inning reached on walks, and Keshawn Ogans tied the game at three with a homer to left-center. The Dash could not answer in the third or fourth, and in the fifth, the Braves took the lead on a sacrifice fly, making it 4-3.

The visitors were not done there. In the sixth, Rome tacked on three more runs, highlighted by a RBI double from Kadon Morton, and took a four run advantage, 7-3, into the later innings. In the eighth, the Braves made it a five run game and led, 8-3, until the ninth when Winston-Salem pushed across a run, but fell to Rome, 8-4.

The Dash and Braves split the series and Winston-Salem begins its final series of the season Tuesday on the road against the Hickory Crawdads. First pitch is slated for 7 p.m. from LP Frans Stadium.
