WooSox Cruise to Fifth-Straight Win, Top Tides 4-1

NORFOLK, VA — Braiden Ward reached base three times and stole three bases, and Raymond Burgos fired five innings of one-run ball to lead the Worcester Red Sox (20-12, 56-47) to a 4-1 victory on Sunday afternoon, their fifth-straight win over the Baltimore Orioles Triple-A affiliate.

For the tenth straight game, the WooSox scored first. After scoring in the first inning in the first five games of the series, Worcester’s first run came in the third. Braiden Ward was hit by a pitch with one out, and later he stole second base. With two down in the inning, Romero drove in Ward with a single to left-center field to give Worcester a 1-0 lead.

The Tides tied the game in the bottom of the third on an RBI single from Fernando Peguero.

Worcester plated a pair in the fifth inning when Ward knocked in Vinny Capra and Tsung-Che Cheng with a single, the latter of whom scored on an error.

Ward amassed seven stolen bases in the series. Ward has 50 stolen bases on the season, which is the most in the International League. He becomes the sixth player in Minor League Baseball this season with at least 50 steals.

WooSox starter Raymond Burgos earned his third victory of the season. The left-hander allowed one run over five innings. Over his last three starts, Burgos has only allowed three earned runs over 14.2 innings.

Eduardo Rivera (2 IP), Seth Martinez (1 IP), and Tyler Uberstine (1 IP) combined to retire 12 of the final 14 batters of the game.

Worcester is now nine games over .500 for the first time since September 21, 2024.
