WORCESTER, M.A. — The Syracuse Mets (23-39, 56-80) opened up an early lead and never looked back, defeating the Worcester Red Sox (36-28, 75-64) 7-1 on Wednesday night at Polar Park.

In the second, Syracuse loaded the bases on two walks and a hit-by-pitch from WooSox starter Kyle Barraclough. With two outs, Barraclough walked the first run of the night in before allowing a three-run double to Danny Mendick.

Still 4-0 in the fourth, the Mets loaded the bases once again—Barraclough exited, and Daniel Palka greeted the Worcester reliever, Justin Hagenman, with a two-run single to right to make it 6-0 in favor of the road team.

That closed the book on Barraclough (8-1), who finished the night with the following line: 3.2 IP, 4 H, 6 ER, 4 BB, 8 K. The right-hander record at least eight strikeouts for the third time this season at Triple-A.

Hagenman was strong once again, going 3.1 scoreless frames and allowing four baserunners. The 26-year-old, acquired in the Kike Hernandez deal in July, has now posted 10 straight scoreless innings.

Ryan Fernandez allowed one run over two innings on a Danny Mendick double in the ninth, the final run of the night.
