Minor League Baseball Diversity Initiative

Diversity & Inclusion

At Minor League Baseball, we proudly strive to be the most fun and inclusive league in all professional sports. We do so by building bridges into the game and business of baseball that allow anyone and everyone to enjoy the game as an athlete, employee, fan or partner. Our national footprint puts us in 160 diverse communities and, with 40+ million fans attending games every year, we are uniquely positioned to impact the spaces we call home and society as a whole.

Diversity and inclusion drive engagement, innovation and creativity - which are key elements to us creating a family and fan-friendly environment in each of our ballparks. Embracing differences and leveraging them make our industry stronger enhances our ability to meet the needs of our communities.

Black History in Baseball

MiLB FIELD Program

Minor League Baseball's 'Fostering Inclusion through Education and Leadership Development' (FIELD) Program combines educational and leadership development with skill specific training, access to a vast network of sports professionals, and industry knowledge and exposure to create a unique experience for selected participants. This week-long program, hosted in the sunshine state, introduces selected participants to the game and business of professional baseball in preparation for a career within the industry.

Women in Baseball

Since 2008, Minor League Baseball has placed an emphasis on creating opportunities for women working in the baseball industry to connect with one another and share experiences. The slate of activities designed to engage women in the industry has grown over the years, but the focus on enhancing career development and comradery remains.

College Speaker Series Program

The College Speaker Series Program was developed to bring awareness of career opportunities in MiLB to students in sport management programs across the country. Each year, executives from the MiLB headquarters visit colleges and universities to share their career experiences and bring industry exposure and knowledge to the classroom. In addition, students learn about job/internship opportunities at the MiLB headquarters and with local teams. For more information, contact Belicia Montgomery, [email protected].

MiLB Disability Inclusion

MiLB Unlimited is a national disability inclusion initiative that strives to serve and empower individuals in our communities with all types of disabilities, including physical, intellectual and developmental.

Copa de la Diversión

"Copa de la Diversión," or "Fun Cup," is a season-long event series specifically designed to embrace the culture and values that resonate most with participating teams' local U.S. Hispanic/Latino communities.

MiLB Pride

MiLB Pride uses the game of baseball to bring communities together and proactively engage and embrace the LGBTQ community with a focus on creating an environment where everyone feels welcome. This platform was created to celebrate, highlight and tell the breakthrough stories on inclusion taking place in participating cities.

Moving Diversity Forward

In 2015, Moving Diversity Forward was introduced as an opportunity for all members of the baseball family to come together for discussion around topics and experiences directly related to diversity and inclusion. All Major and Minor League Baseball personnel are welcome to attend this interactive learning session that provides educational workshops and activities in addition to discussions on implementation strategies and best practices.
