(AKRON, OHIO) June 20, 2022 – Akron RubberDucks left-hander Logan Allen was named Eastern League Pitcher of the Week for Week 11, June 13-19.

Allen struck out a career-high 11 batters over six scoreless innings to help the RubberDucks to a 1-0 win in Hartford on Thursday, June 16.

Allen is the third RubberDuck to be named Pitcher or Player of the Week this season. Daniel Espino was named Pitcher of the Week for his 14-strikeout performance against Bowie on April 23, and Hunter Gaddis was named Pitcher of the Week for his six hitless innings against Binghamton on May 19.

A 2020 second round pick out of Florida International, the 23-year old Allen is in his second season with the RubberDucks. In 12 starts this season, Allen is 4-3 with a 3.55 ERA (seventh best in the Eastern League) and 93 strikeouts (most in the Eastern League) over 66.0 innings pitched (fourth most in the Eastern League).

Allen’s 11 strikeouts against Hartford makes him the fourth RubberDucks pitcher to strikeout at least 11 in a start in 2022. From 2017-2021, no RubberDucks pitchers struck out 11 in a game.

The Akron RubberDucks return to Canal Park on Tuesday, June 21 at 6:35 p.m. to start a six-game series with the Harrisburg Senators. Allen is projected to start for Akron on Thursday, June 23 at 6:35 p.m.
