Troop Supply Drive To Find Hitting Challenge Captains

Fans win chances by donating from FanFest through Opening Day
February 19, 2013

LAKEWOOD, NJ - The BlueClaws will hold a troop supply drive at FirstEnergy Park that kicks off at FanFest and runs through Opening Day, with every donor automatically entered to become one of two team captains for the June 17th Celebrity Hitting Challenge.

The drive begins at FanFest, which runs from 11 am - 4 pm on Saturday, March 2nd and is the day when BlueClaws individual game tickets go on sale to the general public for the first time. Fans can drop off items and enter at any time through Opening Day on April 4th. All donations must be in by first pitch on Opening Day, with the winners being drawn between innings. Note that the winners need not be present to win.

The team captains will get to meet the participating celebrities on the field before the game and be introduced with their respective team before the event begins. During the event, they will receive VIP treatment and watch the event from one of two lifeguard chairs stationed in the outfield.

"Our All-Star Game partners, Kimball and Community Medical Centers, OceanFirst Bank, and Shore Point Distributing Company, came to us and wanted to add a charitable element to the ClawStar Spectacular," said BlueClaws General Manager Brandon Marano. "This is a great way to collect goods for those that are risking their lives for our freedom and at the same time provide two fans with an unforgettable experience."

The BlueClaws will collect razors, snacks, baby wipes, shampoo, soap, non-chocolate candies and sweets, sun block with SPF 40+, lip balm, writing utensils, silly string, deodorant, tissues, q-tips, white socks, batteries, insect repellent, and flashlights.

This supply drive is in conjunction with the National Guard, Toms River Armory, A.R.M.S, and IBEW Local 400 Military Committee.

Please note that there is a limit of one entry per person. The Celebrity Hitting Challenge is part of the two-day ClawStar Spectacular, presented by Kimball and Community Medical Centers, OceanFirst Bank, and Shore Point Distributing Company. The Celebrity Hitting Challenge takes place on June 17th with the 2013 South Atlantic League All-Star Game taking place on June 18th.

The BlueClaws recently launched We Salute You Wednesdays, a program through which fans can donate BlueClaws tickets to members of the military. Five Wednesday night games will have a military feel, with players wearing special jerseys, ceremonies, God Bless America, and more. To donate tickets, please call Kevin Fenstermacher at 732-901-7000 ext 115.

Individual game tickets for the 2013 BlueClaws season will go on sale at FanFest on March 2nd. Prior to that date, fans can reserve tickets only through a BlueClaws ticket package or group outing. For more information, please call 732-901-7000 option 3 or visit BlueClaws.com.
