LAKEWOOD, NJ - Raul Rivas hit a game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the 10th for the BlueClaws second walk-off win of the weekend as Lakewood topped Hagerstown 3-2 on Sunday afternoon at FirstEnergy Park.
With the win, the BlueClaws (20-23/60-53) take three of four from Hagerstown (22-19/60-50) have now won five of their last seven games.
Rivas, who had three hits in the game, singled in Jesus Alastre after Alastre had been hit by a pitch with one out. AJ Bogucki (2-2) hit Alastre and was the losing pitcher though Rivas' game-winning hit came off Jake Barnett. Alastre, who was on first base, was running on the pitch which was lined into left-center. Alastre never stopped running and in the process gave the BlueClaws their second walk-off win of the weekend.
Lakewood beat Hagerstown on Thursday 5-4 when Daniel Brito hit a three-run triple in the bottom of the ninth inning.
Ismael Cabrera (7-5) threw a scoreless 10th inning to earn the win.
Trailing 1-0, the BlueClaws took the lead in the seventh inning on an RBI triple from Austin Listi and SAC fly by David Martinelli. Both runs were charged to Suns starter James Bourque, who gave up two runs in 6.1 innings but got a no-decision.
Lakewood's lead, however, was short-lived. In the eighth, Tyler Hallead walked the lead-off batter and came out after a Blake Perkins bunt. Will Hibbs came on and gave up an RBI single by Jake Noll to tie the game. Hibbs would eventually strand the bases loaded in the inning.
Hagerstown threatened in the ninth off Will Hibbs, but the right-hander got Telmito Agustin to ground out to end the inning.
The Suns opened the scoring in the fourth inning when Jake Noll hit his 14th home run of the season, a line drive onto the grass berm in left field. The home run moved Noll into a tie for fourth place in the league in home runs, seven behind Lakewood's Darick Hall.
Noll's home run was the only run allowed on the day by Adonis Medina. The 20 year old right-hander gave up three hits and three walks while striking out seven.
Rivas had three hits for Lakewood, while Mickey Moniak and Austin Listi had two hits apiece.
The BlueClaws head to West Virginia to open a three-game series on Monday night. RHP Alejandro Requena (9-3) starts for Lakewood opposite RHP Mike Wallace (2-6).
