Clinton pitchers shut down Kernels, 5-0
Kernels starter Garrett Richards allowed three runs on five hits, walked two and struck out five over six innings in taking the loss. Mike Trout went 2-4 as Jean Segura and Kevin Bass each added a single. Casey Haerther saw his 13 game hitting streak snapped as he went 0-4 and Matt Long was 0-1 and drew three walks.
Clinton drew first blood with a lead off home run by Nick Franklin. Welington Dotel went 2-3 with a triple and 2 RBI and Vinnie Catricala was 1-4 with a double and RBI.
The Kernels had a chance to score in the top of the ninth as they loaded the bases off Clinton relievers John Housey and Jose Jimenez. Josselyn came on with two out and got Haerther to fly out to right field to end the game.

The Kernels return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Tuesday, May 18th and open a three game set with the Quad Cities River Bandits.
