LaMonte Wade joins Kernels from Elizabethton; Chris Paul activated from DL

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Minnesota Twins announce that INF Pat Kelly and OF Zack Larson have been placed on the 7-day DL; OF Chris Paul has been activated from the 7-day DL; and OF LaMonte Wade has joined the Kernels from Elizabethton (APPY). Brad Steil, Director of Minor League Operations for the Twins, announced the move.

The Twins selected Wade in the 9th round of the 2015 First Year Player Draft out of the University of Maryland. He has played in 64 games at Elizabethton this season, batting .312 with 9 HR and 44 RBI.

Kelly goes on the DL with a right hamstring strain. In 95 games for the Kernels he is batting .220 with 3 HR and 30 RBI. The Twins selected Kelly in the 12th round of the 2014 First Year Player Draft out of the University of Nebraska.

Larson heads to the DL with a left oblique strain. In 106 games for the Kernels, he is batting .214 with 20 doubles and 54 RBI. The Twins selected Larson in the 20th round of the 2012 First Year Player Draft out of Lakewood Ranch (FL) HS.

Paul went on the DL back on August 21st with a right shoulder impingement. The Twins selected him in the 6th round of the 2015 First Year Player Draft out of the University of California and in six games for the Kernels, he is batting .167 (4-24) with two runs scored.

Paul and Wade are active and available for tonight's 6:30 PM game at Wisconsin. With today's transactions, the Kernels roster is at the Midwest League maximum of 25 active players, with ten players currently on the DL.

The Kernels continue a six game road trip tonight at 6:30 PM against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, the Midwest League affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. They return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Saturday, September 5th to host the Clinton LumberKings at 6:35 PM.
