Bristo Becomes Latest Dogs Arm to Get Call to Tampa

HICKORY, N.C. - The New York Yankees have announced that right-hander Braden Bristo has become the latest Charleston RiverDog promoted to High-A Tampa, joining eight former Charleston hurlers at the higher levels of the system.
Bristo becomes the 12th RiverDog overall to be promoted to the Tarpons this season and leaves as Charleston's most frequently used reliever this season. The Monroe, Louisiana native emerged from the Dogs bullpen 28 times, logging a 2.06 ERA and striking out 57 batters in 43 2/3 innings, despite an 0-4 record. His average of 11.75 K's per nine innings ranked third best among South Atlantic League relievers. He did not allow a run in 21 of his 28 appearances in Class A this season in what was his second stint with the RiverDogs.
Filling Bristo's spot on the Charleston staff will be righty Carlos Espinal, a 21-year-old native of the Dominican Republic called up on Tuesday. He dominated APPY League hitters to start the season, allowing just a run across 21 innings of work with 26 strikeouts and just four walks.
