2027 slate features 66 home games, including Fourth of July weekend matchup against rival Myrtle Beach

CHARLESTON, SC – As the 2026 season nears its close, the Charleston RiverDogs, in conjunction with Major League Baseball, have announced their 2027 schedule. The Tampa Bay Rays’ Single-A affiliate will play a 132-game schedule, with 66 home games at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park, celebrating the 30th season in the ballpark.

The 2027 campaign marks the 30th season of RiverDogs baseball at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park, a milestone that will be celebrated throughout the season. For three decades, The Joe has become a summer gathering place for generations of Charleston fans, known for its creative promotions, unexpected twists and fan-first atmosphere. The anniversary season will celebrate the moments, traditions and fans that have helped make the RiverDogs and The Joe such a special part of the Charleston community.

The RiverDogs’ longest homestand of the season is slated for June 29-July 11, when Charleston will play 12 games in 13 days at The Joe before the All-Star Break. This stretch includes Independence Day week home games on both Saturday, July 3, and Sunday, July 4.

The homestand opens with the RiverDogs’ South Carolina coastal rivals, the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, setting the stage for a spirited Fourth of July weekend at The Joe. Charleston will then welcome the Salem RidgeYaks, the Single-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, for their first visit to Charleston since May 2025.

Charleston’s home schedule begins Tuesday, April 6, when the RiverDogs host the Wilson Warbirds, the Single-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers, for a six-game series running through Sunday, April 11.

The RiverDogs will open the 2027 season April 2-4 in Columbia with a three-game weekend series against the Fireflies, the Single-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals. It will mark Charleston’s first season-opening trip since 2023 and its first season-opening series in Columbia since 2019.

Eight of Charleston’s 11 Carolina League opponents will make the trip to The Joe during the 2027 season. The RiverDogs will primarily compete in six-game series, with two three-game sets also featured on the schedule.

Charleston will see plenty of its South Division rivals throughout the season, playing Augusta, Kannapolis and Myrtle Beach 24 times apiece, along with Columbia and Hickory 18 times each. South Division opponents account for 108 of Charleston’s 132 games in 2027.

Following the four-day MLB All-Star Break from July 12-15, the RiverDogs will embark on a nine-game road trip before returning home July 27 to host the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers for a six-game series.

Charleston will close the regular season with a six-game road series at Hickory from Aug. 31-Sept. 5. The RiverDogs will not face Fredericksburg, Hill City or Delmarva during the 2027 regular season.

The Carolina League playoff format will again feature the first-half winner from each division facing the second-half winner in a best-of-three series. The two division winners will then advance to a best-of-three League Championship Series.

The full 2027 schedule is available here. Game times and promotions will be announced at a later date.
