DAYTON, Ohio -- The Dayton Dragons will honor military recruiters from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base as “Hometown Heroes” during the game on Thursday, July 3 as they take on the Lake County Captains at Day Air Ballpark in the heart of the Water Street District. First pitch is scheduled for 5:35 pm.

The Dayton Dragons shine the spotlight on the military, past and present, through the Hometown Heroes program. This program hosts military families at every Dragons game, while recognizing outstanding military groups and individuals.

Military Recruiters

Military recruiters serve a crucial function in the armed forces, acting as the primary link between military and civilian communities. Throughout the year, they attend school visits, job fairs, and public events to raise awareness and attract interest in enlisting. Recruiters are responsible for educating potential servicemen and women about the benefits, commitments, and career opportunities in the military.

The 338th Recruiting Squadron

The 338th Recruiting Squadron, based at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, plays a vital role in shaping the future of the U.S. Air Force. Led by Lt. Col. Kyle S. Wilkinson, the squadron is part of the 360th Recruiting Group and is charged with the mission of inspiring, engaging, and recruiting the next generation of Airmen to help deliver airpower for America.

Covering a vast 72,000-square-mile area across Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, West Virginia, and Illinois, the 338th consists of 98 active duty and civilian personnel. With 52 recruiting offices and support from three Military Entrance Processing Stations, the squadron works tirelessly to connect with communities and guide qualified individuals into Air Force careers.

The Dayton Dragons Hometown Heroes program is made possible by the generous support of the Dayton Development Coalition, Reynolds and Reynolds, HII Mission Technologies, Synergy Building Systems, and HNB. For more information, visit daytondragons.com/hometownheroes.
