Today's Game: The Dayton Dragons (affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds) meet the Lansing Lugnuts (affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays) in the last game of a three-game series. This is game nine of a 13-game, 14-day road trip for the Dragons. Dragons Record to Date on the Trip: 2-6.
Last Game: Thursday: Lansing 4, Dayton 3. The Lugnuts built a 4-0 lead over the first seven innings before the Dragons battled back with three runs in the eighth to pull within a run. Lansing held on as the Dragons left the bases loaded in the eighth and left a runner at third in the ninth. Alejo Lopez had a hit on his first swing of the game to extend his hitting streak to 12 straight games, the team's season-high for 2018. The Dragons finished with eight hits by eight different players. Lorenzo Cedrola had a two-out triple in the ninth for the only extra base hit.
Playoff Chase: The Dragons must finish in the top two among eligible teams in the East Division in the Second Half (six teams competing; Bowling Green and Lansing ineligible). The Dragons are currently one and one-half games behind Fort Wayne in the race for the #2 seed in the Second Half. The six teams in the Second Half race are separated by just four games.
