The Greenville Drive lost the first game of the series with the Rome Braves with a final score of 2-1.

After two scoreless innings, Rome’s Beau Phillips got things going when he hit a homer to put the Braves ahead at the top of the third.

Bryson Horn from Rome followed Phillips’ lead by hitting one out of the park in the fifth. The Braves held the Drive from scoring any runs for the first seven innings.

Greenville finally put one on the board when Niko Kavadas hit his third home run since first arriving at the Drive last week. This put Greenville behind by only one run while Rome still led 2-1.

After Greenville’s Ryan Fernandez threw three strikeouts at the top of the ninth, the Drive had one last chance to take the game. Unfortunately, Rome still walked away with the first win of the series. The final score being 2-1.

Greenville continues the series with Rome tomorrow at Fluor Field. First pitch is at 7:05.
