Drive Win in Extra Innings

The Greenville Drive won in extra innings in the fifth game of the series against the Hickory Crawdads. The Drive beat the Crawdads in a 6-5 victory.

The Drive made the first move at the top of the first when Alex Binelas’ RBI double sent Matthew Lugo running home.

Drive pitcher Shane Drohan pitched four scoreless innings until the Crawdads scored three in the fifth off Drohan although they were unearned.

Before Greenville could make their comeback Chris Seise from Hickory hit an RBI single to make the Crawdads lead by three runs.

Things were looking bleak for the Drive until they fired back with three runs of their own at the top of the eighth. A sacrifice fly by Jaxx Groshans, a single by Tyler Esplin, and a pass ball played in three runs to tie the game.

In extra innings Esplin singled home a run and ended up scoring himself for the Drive due to a fielding error. The Crawdads managed one run in the bottom of the tenth, but Jacinto Arrendondo picked up the save. Greenville was able to win with a tight score of 6-5.

The Drive finishes up the series with the Crawdads tomorrow at 3:00.
