The Details

The Drive’s first Black Spinners Celebration event of the season! This Greenville Drive tradition honors the Greenville Black Spinners, the Greenville-based Negro League team in the 1920’s, by donning their Black Spinners uniforms. The entire evening will include special performances and recognition moments for Jackie Robinson, the Black Spinners, as well as critical diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives all throughout the community.

Prior to first pitch, for the second consecutive year, the day begins with the King Legacy HBCU College Fair set up along the Fluor Field concourse beginning at 2 p.m. Thirty Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) will be on hand to make presentations, speak one-on-one to attendees, accept applications, help with admission and financial aid questions, and more. More than $1 million dollars in scholarships was awarded during this powerful and impactful event at Fluor Field in 2023. A complimentary lunch, entertainment, and baseball game tickets will be provided for all participants.

Furthermore, the Drive will be hosting a screening of The Other Boys of Summer, a documentary highlighting the trials, tribulations, and triumphs of Negro League Baseball and its players at 5 p.m. A panel discussion featuring the film’s director and local panelists, Lauren Meyer will follow the screening on top of the Drive’s home dugout.

And, as with all Saturday home games, District 356 will come alive starting at 5 p.m. with Saturdays on the District presented by Publix. The party will include inflatable games, live music performances, and food and beverage stations from local food trucks, your favorite beverages on tap, shopping, and more. Also on District 356, tying into the night’s Black Spinners theme, fans can enjoy live performances from the Johnson C. Smith University Band, shop many Black Owned businesses, and vendors set up on the street, and more.
