Each Monday through March 24, find out how former and potential future Gwinnett Stripers players are performing in Major League camp with the Atlanta Braves.
The Atlanta Braves enter their second week of Grapefruit League play having won four of their last five games. The club's 6-2 record through March 2 is the best among all 15 teams in the circuit.
Many former and future Gwinnett Stripers have played a big role in the parent club’s success. Here’s an overview of who’s stood out to open Spring Training:
Former Stripers:
C Drake Baldwin (2023-24)
6 Games: .333/.467/.417, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 3 BB, .884 OPS
The Braves' top prospect according to MLB.com added to his case for an Opening Day roster spot with a strong beginning to his spring. Baldwin’s highlight game thus far this spring came on the road against Miami on February 28. He went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBIs in Atlanta's 7-2 victory.
C Sandy León (2024)
4 Games: .400/.500/1.600, 2 HR, 2 RBI, 1 BB, 2 SO, 2.100 OPS
The 35-year-old León already has a pair of long balls in his first four games of the spring. Those came in each of his first two starts as he joined Matt Olson as the only two Braves with multiple homers entering Monday’s game.
OF Eli White (2023-24)
5 Games: .625/.700/.625, 1 BB, 1 SO, 1.325 OPS
White has recorded a hit in three of his first five games this spring, and is currently tied for the team lead in hits (5) with two other players. On February 25 at Pittsburgh, he had a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate.
P Grant Holmes (2023-24)
2 Games: 1.80 ERA, 5.0 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 4 SO, .118 BAA
Holmes, vying for a rotation spot, has allowed just one earned run over a pair of relief appearances. His most recent outing on the road at Miami on February 28 included three hitless innings with as many strikeouts.
Prospective Stripers:
INF Cal Conley
4 Games: .500/.500/.625, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 1.125 OPS
The 25-year-old spent all of 2024 with Double-A Mississippi, leading the team in hits (112), doubles (21), and runs scored (54). Now in his third Spring Training with the Braves, Conley has already matched his hit total (4) from last spring thanks to hits in three of his first four games.
INF Charles Leblanc
6 Games: .300/.300/.600, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 2 SO, 1 SB, .900 OPS
Leblanc begins his first season with the Braves organization after spending 2024 with the Los Angeles Angels. The 28-year-old infielder spent a majority of the season with Triple-A Salt Lake while also appearing in 11 games with the big-league club.
A non-roster invitee to Braves camp, Leblanc has three hits in his first 10 at-bats this spring, including a three-run homer in an 11-1 blowout win over the New York Yankees on March 2.
P Buck Farmer
2 Games: 0.00 ERA, 1 Hold, 2.0 IP, 1 BB, 4 SO, .000 BAA
Having played at the MLB level every season since 2014, Farmer is coming off his best year in terms of wins above replacement in 2024 with Cincinnati (1.7 WAR).
The Conyers, Georgia native is off to an impressive start since signing a minor league contract with the Braves, striking out four over two scoreless innings. Entering Monday's game, only Spencer Schwellenbach had more strikeouts (5) on the club.
