LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – Nolan Kingham wasn’t slated to start until Sunday morning, but that did not appear to rattle him in the slightest. The Gwinnett right-hander delivered three scoreless innings, setting the table for an afternoon of dominance from the bullpen as four Stripers (22-28) relievers combined to hold the Durham Bulls (27-23) scoreless in a 2-0 win at Coolray Field.

Decisive Plays: Durham threatened to score first in the fourth inning, but Ty Tice struck out the side with the bases loaded to hold the game scoreless. The Stripers broke through in the sixth on an RBI fielder’s choice from Vaughn Grissom to go up 1-0. Nick Solak added insurance with a leadoff home run (5) in the seventh. Grant Holmes picked up his first save with Gwinnett to wrap up the 2-0 win.

Key Contributors: Kingham (3.0 innings, 2 hits, 0 walks, 5 strikeouts), was in command, striking out five of the last eight batters he faced. From there, Tice, Matt Swarmer (W, 2-3), Brian Moran (H, 4), and Holmes (S, 1) combined on 6.0 scoreless, two-hit innings with 10 strikeouts. Solak had the game’s only extra-base hit, finishing 1-for-3 with the homer.

Noteworthy: The Stripers earned their second shutout win of the year, first since a 2-0 victory against Charlotte on May 5 at Coolray Field. With his seventh-inning clout, Solak now has a 14-game on-base streak. The Gwinnett defense has not committed an error in 11 straight games, the longest team errorless streak in the International League this season.
