Duvall homers twice, Jackson homers once as Stripers reach 125-homer mark

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Adam Duvall hit two home runs including a grand slam, and Alex Jackson added a two-run homer as the Gwinnett Stripers (44-35) defeated the Indianapolis Indians (41-37) 8-1 on Friday night at Coolray Field. The three homers raised the Stripers' season total to 125, a new Gwinnett single-season record.

Scoring Recap: Duvall (23) gave Gwinnett a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a 395-foot two-run homer to left-center off Yefry Ramírez. In the top of the fifth, the Indians cut it to 2-1 on an RBI double by Jason Martin. Duvall (24) extended the lead to 6-1 in the fifth on a 437-foot grand slam off the batter's eye. Later in the fifth, Jackson (15) hit a 417-foot two-run homer to left to give the Stripers an 8-1 lead.
Stripers Stats: Duvall went 2-for-3 with two homers and six RBIs, the most RBIs by a Stripers batter in a game this season. Jackson went 1-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs. Kyle Wright (W, 5-4) pitched 7.2 innings with one run on three hits and struck out eight. Jason Creasy pitched 1.1 scoreless, one-hit innings out of the bullpen.
Indians Stats: Ramirez (L, 1-3) pitched 4.1 innings and gave up five runs on four hits. Reliever Tyler Lyons allowed three runs over 1.2 innings. Martin went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
Quote: "I just wanted to put the barrel on the ball and that has been something we have worked on," said Duvall. "Tonight, I was seeing the ball well and was able to put good swings on the ball."
Postgame Notes: The Stripers' 125 homers in 79 games breaks Gwinnett's previous single-season record of 123 homers in 143 games, set in 2011. Duvall posted his third multi-homer game of the season and hit his second grand slam (Gwinnett's sixth this year). He leads the International League in RBIs (64) and is tied for first in homers (24). Jackson has homered three times in his last three games.
