Wappingers Falls, N.Y. (April 28, 2024) – The Renegades completed a six-game split with the Bowling Green Hot Rods on Sunday afternoon, winning 6-3 behind 9 hits and a great start from starting pitcher Cam Schlittler.

Hudson Valley fell behind early, after a solo shot to left center by Xavier Isaac in the first inning. Colton Ledbetter added a solo shot of his own in the second, giving the Hot Rods a 2-0 lead.

After a leadoff home run in the second by Ledbetter, Cam Schlittler retired the last 15 batters that faced. He threw six innings and struck out seven, while issuing no walks and allowing just two hits. The right-hander matched his career high in punchouts, last week in his start vs. Aberdeen.

The Renegades got their offense going in the second. Jesus Rodriguez led off the frame with a double, and stole third base. In the ensuing at-bat, Josh Moylan grounded out to second, allowing Rodriguez to score and make it a 2-1 game.

In the third, Kyle Battle tied the game with a solo home run to lead off the inning, his first of the season. Battle did more damage in the fourth, knocking in Cole Gabrielson with an RBI single to put Hudson Valley. The Renegades left fielder had an excellent day at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a walk and a sacrifice fly.

With the home squad up 3-2 in the fourth, Jared Serna ripped an RBI double to left to score Battle and extend the lead. Serna was also very good at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a walk in the game.

Bowling Green got a run back in the seventh. Xavier Isaac singled and reached third on a balk and passed ball, and Cooper Kinney knocked him in with a single.

Some crucial insurance runs came for Hudson Valley in the bottom of the eighth. Kiko Romero walked to begin the inning, and Gabrielson doubled to put runners at second and third. A sacrifice fly from Battle brought home Romero, and Gabrielson scored on a balk with Omar Martinez at the plate to make it 6-3.

The Renegades will turn the attention to a 12-game road trip, which will begin on Tuesday against the Wilmington Blue Rocks. First pitch is at 6:35, with the Heritage Financial Pregame Show beginning at 6:15 on the Renegades Baseball Network.
