Wilmington, Del. (May 3, 2024) — The Hudson Valley Renegades fell to the Wilmington Blue Rocks 13-8 in a wild game on Friday night at Frawley Stadium.

The Renegades took a commanding lead early as they sent nine batters to the plate and scored six runs in the top of the second. Nelson Medina got the scoring started with a two-run single off Rodney Theophile, and three batters later Jace Avina drove in two with a single of his own. Jared Serna capped the six-run frame with a two-run double to left center to give Hudson Valley a 6-0 lead.

Medina had a strong game at the plate, finishing 3-for-5 with three RBIs. It was the second multi-hit game of the series for the outfielder.

Wilmington responded with three runs in the bottom of the second off Kyle Carr on a Johnathan Thomas three-run triple with two outs. The Blue Rocks added three more in the third and another three in the bottom of the fourth to take a 9-7 lead. Carr (0-2) was charged with nine runs (six earned) on nine hits in 4.0 innings, walking two and striking out two.

The Blue Rocks tacked on two runs in the sixth off Luis Arejula to extend their lead to 11-7, and two more in the eighth on a two-run single by Will Frizzell.

In the top of the ninth, Beau Brewer drove in Kiko Romero after reaching on a two-base error to cut the deficit to 13-8, but Todd Peterson limited the damage to just that run to finish off the game.

Hudson Valley continues its series with Wilmington on Saturday night at Frawley Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m., with coverage beginning on the Renegades Baseball Network with the Heritage Financial Credit Union Pregame Show at 5:45. The Renegades send RHP Cam Schlittler (3-0, 1.29) to the mound, while the Blue Rocks counter with RHP Andry Lara (2-3, 2.28).
