WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. (June 10, 2022) – The Hudson Valley Renegades entertained a past-capacity crowd of 4,983 on Friday night at Dutchess Stadium as they fell to the Jersey Shore BlueClaws 4-2.

Jersey Shore took an early lead in the first inning against Blas Castaño. With runners on first and second and two outs, D.J. Stewart hit a three-run home run to center to give the BlueClaws a 3-0 advantage.

Castaño (0-5) settled down after the tough first and completed 6.2 innings, allowing three runs on 10 scattered hits, walking one and striking out six. In the outing, he set new career highs for innings pitched, hits allowed and pitches thrown.

The Renegades chipped away with a run in the fourth, when Everson Pereira singled and later scored on an Eric Wagaman groundout to cut the deficit to 3-1.

Tanner Myatt struck out five in 2.1 innings out of the bullpen, but allowed a run with two outs in the ninth as Johan Rojas grounded a double down the right field line to score Freylin Minyety as the BlueClaws grew their lead to 4-1.

Back-to-back two-out singles in the bottom of the ninth by Aldenis Sanchez and Pat DeMarco brought the tying run to the plate against Aidan Anderson. Cooper Bowman delivered an RBI single to right to plate Sanchez to narrow the gap to 4-2. However, Trey Sweeney grounded out to second to end the game.

DeMarco, Everson Pereira and Carlos Narvaez finished with two hits for the Renegades on the night.

Hudson Valley continues its series with Jersey Shore on Saturday night at Dutchess Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m., with coverage on the Renegades Baseball Network beginning at 5:45.
