I-CUBS DEFEAT OMAHA

The Iowa Cubs (30-39, 60-81) defeated the Omaha Storm Chasers (64-78, 31-37) 3-2 on Thursday evening at Werner Park.

The game began after a one hour and 41 minute weather delay. Iowa scored three runs in the fourth inning on a two-run double from Chas McCormick and a sacrifice fly from Jordan Nwogu.

Omaha was held without a hit until the sixth inning, when they hit a solo home run to break up the no-hitter and get on the board. The Storm Chasers went on to score another run in the eighth inning to make it a one-run game.

With the tying and go-ahead runs on base, Eduarniel Nunez recorded the final out of the eighth inning to escape the jam. Gabe Klobosits recorded the final three outs in the ninth inning to pick up his fifth save of the season and preserve the I-Cubs victory.

Iowa starting pitcher Connor Noland picked up his fourth win of the season after throwing 5.0 scoreless innings, allowing no runs and no hits while matching his season high of six strikeouts. After allowing two walks in the first three at-bats in the first inning, he went on to retire the final thirteen batters he faced.

The Iowa Cubs continue their final series of the 2026 season with a doubleheader on Friday against the Omaha Storm Chasers, with first pitch of the first game scheduled for 5:05 PM.
