Rockies Agree to Minor League Contract with Ryan Howard

The Colorado Rockies have agreed to terms on a Minor League contract with former National League MVP and Rookie of the Year, Ryan Howard. The three-time All-Star will report to the Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes.

The Colorado Rockies have agreed to terms on a Minor League contract with former National League MVP and Rookie of the Year, Ryan Howard. The three-time All-Star will report to the Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes.

Howard, 37, spent 13 seasons with the Philadelphia Phillies where he compiled 382 career home runs, the second-most in team history and the fifth-most among active players. u1:p
The St. Louis, Mo. native was named the 2006 National League Rookie of the Year after compiling a .288 batting average with 22 home runs and 63 RBI in 88 games. The following season, Howard was voted the National League MVP after registering a league-leading 58 home runs and 149 RBI while hitting .313.u1:p
Howard was an integral member of the Phillies 2008 World Series Championship campaign, finishing second in MVP voting while leading the league in home runs (48) and RBI (146).u1:p
In April of 2017, Howard signed a Minor League contract with the Atlanta Braves. He appeared in 11 games for the Triple-A Gwinett Braves before being released on May 8. Howard's last Major League appearance came on October 2, 2016.u1:p
