April 8, 2014

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Minnesota Twins announce that RHP Ethan Mildren will join the Kernels from Extended Spring Training in Fort Myers, FL and that LHP Miguel Sulbaran has been traded to the New York Yankees in exchange for SS Eduardo Nunez. Brad Steil, Director of Minor League Operations for the Twins, announced the move.

The Twins selected Mildren in the 12th round of the 2013 First Year Player Draft out of the University of Pittsburgh. He made 12 relief appearances at Elizabethton last season, going 1-1 with a 1.65 ERA allowing four runs (three earned) on 15 hits, walking seven and striking out 13 over 16.1 IP.

The Twins acquired Sulbaran a trade with the LA Dodgers for Drew Butera in 2013. He had made one relief appearance for the Kernels this season, allowing a hit, an unearned run and striking out one over an inning pitched.

Mildren will join the Kernels today in Midland, MI. With today's transaction, the Kernels roster is at the MWL maximum of 25 active players.

The Kernels begin a six game road trip tonight at 5:05 pm in Midland, MI against the Great Lakes Loons, the MWL affiliate of the LA Dodgers. They return home to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Monday, April 12 to open a six game home stand with games against South Bend and West Michigan.
