Bats Break Through, Claws Roll in Series Finale

HAGERSTOWN, MD - Cole Stobbe had two extra-base hits and drove in three runs as the BlueClaws topped Hagerstown 9-4 on Wednesday night in the series finale. 
Lakewood (25-41) had dropped the first two games against the Suns (30-36) in this series but won 10 of 15 first-half meetings.
Ben Pelletier doubled home two runs to open the scoring in the second before Tyler Cropley hit a solo home run for Hagerstown inthe third. 
Lakewood, however, blew the game open with a five-run fourth inning that featured two-run triples by Cole Stobbe and Luis Garcia. The five-run inning matched the BlueClaws biggest inning of the season. 
In the fifth, Stobbe came through again, doubling home Carlos De La Cruz. Jonathan Guzman then added an RBI single to give the BlueClaws a 9-2 lead. 
All nine Lakewood starters had hits in the game. Rafael Marchan, Stobbe, Pelletier, and Abrahan Gutierrez had two apiece for the BlueClaws. Lakewood finished with 13 hits, one off their season high. 
Lakewood starter Jhordany Mezquita gave up two runs in 4.1 innings of work. Ismael Cabrera got the last two outs of the fifth inning. 
Dominic Pipkin (3-1) earned the win with three scoreless innings in relief. 
The BlueClaws head to Asheville on Thursday night to open up a four-game series, the final series of the first half. RHP Francisco Morales starts the series opener.
