SALISBURY, MD - Delmarva scored seven times in the first two innings and drew 11 walks en route to a 14-0 win over the BlueClaws on Thursday night at Perdue Stadium.
Adam Hall went 3-3 with two walks and two RBIs for the Shorebirds (35-10), who have won the last two games of the series after the BlueClaws (15-31) took the Tuesday opener.
Delmarva scored four times in the first inning without a hit. Lakewood starter Kevin Gowdy (0-2) walked all six batters he faced, allowing three runs to score, and Daniel Fajardo grounded into a double play off reliever Blake Bennett to give the Shorebirds a 4-0 lead.
Bennett stayed on and surrendered a three-run home run to Doran Turchin, his fifth of the year, in the second inning.
JamesMcArthur came on in the fourth inning when Adam Hall doubled in Cadyn Grenier for his second run batted in of the game.
In the seventh, McArthur left with a runner on base with two outs but Delmarva scored five times. Four scored on a three-run triple from Adam Horvath on which Horvath came home on a throwing error.
BlueClaws pitchers walked 11 hitters in the game, one off the franchise record of 12 set in 2015.
The 14-run margin of defeat for the BlueClaws matched a 14-0 loss to Hickory in July of 2017 and is the largest margin of defeat in the last seven seasons.
Jonathan Guzman and Jake Holmes had the two hits for Lakewood in defeat.
The teams finish their series and the BlueClaws finish their road trip on Friday night at 7:05 pm. LHP Ethan Lindow (1-1) starts for Lakewood opposite LHP Nick Vespi (2-2).
