The BlueClaws are a part of Minor League Baseball's Copa de la Diversión program this year and will host four special games during the season.
LAKEWOOD, NJ - The BlueClaws will host four special Copa de la Diversión nights in 2019, as the team makes their first appearance in Minor League Baseball's national program. The four Copa de la Diversión nights at FirstEnergy Park are presented by Toyota World of Lakewood.
The Copa de la Diversión program, or "Fun Cup," debuted in 2018 and connects MiLB teams across the country with their diverse local communities. Through the program, teams across the country, including the BlueClaws this year, embrace the culture and values that resonate most in the Hispanic/Latino communities in their market and create a vibrant and energetic gameday experience to match.
The BlueClaws will assume a new identity as part of the program at games on May 3rd (Friday at 7:05 pm), June 23rd (Sunday at 1:05 pm), July 26th (Friday at 7:05 pm), and August 28th (Wednesday at 7:05 pm). The games on May 3rd and July 26th will include post-game fireworks, like all BlueClaws Friday home games.
"We are very excited to participate in this year's Copa program," said BlueClaws team President Joe Ricciutti. "These four games will offer the best of the BlueClaws while we showcase some of most popular elements of Hispanic/Latino culture, food, and music."
Each Copa game will include special jerseys and hats to be worn by the BlueClaws during the game. Exclusive Copa-themed merchandise will be available for sale at these games as well. The nights will also include specialty food and beverage options, vendors, and live music in the BlueClaws Biergarten.
The Copa initiative also marks the introduction of the BlueClaws "Dia de los Niñros" program. The goal of the initiative is to provide economically disadvantaged children in the Hispanic communities of Ocean and Monmouth Counties with the opportunity to enjoy a BlueClaws game this summer. Each participating child will also receive a complimentary t-shirt.
As part of the program, the BlueClaws are building an extensive list of individuals and local businesses that are interested in sponsoring children to come out to a game. For more information on the program or to participate as a donor, please email email@example.com or click here.
The special identity the BlueClaws will take on for these four games will be unveiled formally on Monday, March 18th.
Copa Celebration Membership - The BlueClaws are offering a special Four-Pack of tickets for these four games. Each package includes a ticket to each game, a specialty food component, and a round of mini golf and a boardwalk game ticket (at the Toyota World of Lakewood Home Run Pavilion) at each game.
The package also includes one Dia de los Muertos-themed BlueClaws Bobblehead that will be wearing the jersey of the BlueClaws Copa identity. The bobblehead will also be unveiled on March 18th. The BlueClaws are the Jersey Shore's top stop for affordable, family entertainment. In 2018, the team added a mini golf course, boardwalk game area - the Toyota World Home Run Pavilion - and a Biergarten to FirstEnergy Park.
The 2019 season kicks off with Opening Night, presented by Jenkinson's Boardwalk, on Thursday, April 4th. 2019 Membership Plans and Group Outings are currently on sale by calling 732-901-7000 option 3 or online at BlueClaws.com.
