LEXINGTON, KY - Carlos Hernandez and Andres Nunez combined on a four-hit shutout as Lexington topped the BlueClaws 1-0 in their series finale on Thursday at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.
The BlueClaws (26-31/55-72) had scored 21 runs on 32 hits in the first two games of the series before being blanked by the Legends (25-34/62-66) duo on Wednesday.
The Legends got the game's lone run in the third inning on an RBI groundout from Rubendy Jacquez that brought home Chase VAllot. Vallot drew a lead-off walk from Francisco Morales in the inning.
Morales (1-7) came out after five excellent innings, allowing one run on two hits with seven strikeouts. He fanned the first five batters he faced in the game and now has 121 strikeouts on the year across 89 innings of work.
Legends starter Carlos Hernandez threw six scoreless innings, striking out six and improving to 2-2 on the year. Nunez came on in the seventh and got the last nine outs for his second save.
Hunter Stovall had two hits for the BlueClaws and went 9-13 in the series.
Victor Santos threw three hitless innings in relief, striking out four.
The BlueClaws head to West Virginia to open a series with the Power on Friday night. LHP Manuel Silva starts the series opener for the BlueClaws.
