IronPigs to pay tribute to baseball’s friend the “Wiener Dog”

Allentown, Pennsylvania (27 July 2021) – Based on the overwhelming success of the IronPugs campaign during the 2019 season, the Lehigh Valley IronPigs will be paying tribute to baseball’s friend the “Wiener Dog”. The Lehigh Valley IronWieners will be taking the field on Friday, September 3 when they host the Syracuse Mets. The IronWieners will celebrate all dogs, but the focus will be on the Wiener Dog – a nod to the dog and the hot dog, which are both important to the IronPigs!

“After the typo fiasco back in the 2019 season and the success we saw come out of it with IronPugs, we wanted to again take a day to pay tribute to our four-legged furry friends,” said IronPigs President and General Manager Kurt Landes. “I love wieners! I love both the hot dog variety and the dachshunds! We’ve been able to combine my love for both with our new bacon wrapped IronWieners. We now have a combination of baseball’s two best friends – the wiener dog and a hot dog.”

The IronPigs, er IronWieners, will be wearing specialty jerseys and caps that will be auctioned throughout the game courtesy of MATHESON. Fireworks will be held after the game presented by MATHESON and there will be a bucket cap giveaway, which is also presented by MATHESON.

In celebration of the IronWieners, the “IronWiener Dog,” which is a bacon-wrapped hot-dog will be available for purchase during the game on Friday, September 3.

Due to the fireworks scheduled post-game for September 3 and due to limited seating, dogs are not invited to IronWieners night, unfortunately. However, all dogs are welcome to each “Tail-Waggin’ Tuesday” IronPigs game this season.
