Dickerson and Fogg Help Bats Shut Out Indians 5-0

Louisville, KY - A Chris Dickerson grand slam in the third inning and an outstanding pitching performance by Josh Fogg, helped power the Bats to a 5-0 victory over the Indians. 9,714 fans at Louisville Slugger Field witnessed the Bats victory tonight.

Chris Dickerson provided all the offense the Bats would need tonight, going 2-for-4 with five RBI, thanks a to grand slam and triple. In the bottom of the third with no one out, Josh Fogg helped load the bases with a sacrifice bunt. Chris Dickerson came up to the plate next and blasted a 422-foot grand slam over the center field fence to make the score 4-0.

In the seventh, Paul Janish reached on a grounder to center field. Dickerson brought Janish home with a line drive RBI triple down the right field line to give the Bats the 5-0 advantage.

In his second rehab start for the Bats, Josh Fogg (1-1, 1.59) picked up the victory, while frustrating Indians batters. Fogg fanned 6 batters, gave up three hits, and walked only two in 8.1 innings of shutout baseball . At one point during the game he retired 14 Indian batters in a row. Tyler Pelland came in the ninth inning and helped preserve the Bats shutout by striking out two.

Indians RHP Jason Davis (4-9, 5.18) pitched 7.2 innings in a losing effort. Davis recorded five strikeouts, allowed six hits and five earned runs.

Louisville and Indianapolis will compete again tomorrow with a scheduled start time of 7:05 p.m. Tomorrow's starting pitching match-up will be the Bats' RHP Homer Bailey (4-6, 4.41) squaring off against Indians' RHP Jimmy Barthmaier (2-1, 2.84).
