Mendlinger slaps seventh Redbirds walk-off win of 2026

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Memphis Redbirds continued a six-game series against the Nashville Sounds (Triple-A, Milwaukee Brewers) with a 5-4 walk-off victory on Wednesday night at AutoZone Park.

After Memphis blew a three-run lead in the top of the frame, second baseman Noah Mendlinger delivered a two-out walk-off single to right field. The victory marked the seventh walk-off victory for Memphis in 2026 and the club’s fifth in the last three homestands. Mendlinger finished the win 2-for-3 off the bench.

Designated hitter Nolan Gorman smacked his sixth home run in his last eight games with a two-run blast to right field to give the Redbirds their first lead of the game. Left fielder Joshua Báez and infielder Brody Moore both tallied two hits and smacked a double.

Starting pitcher Cooper Hjerpe tossed 4.0 scoreless frames in his Triple-A debut. The 2022 first round pick allowed two hits, walked four and struck out four. Brycen Mauts tossed a scoreless inning out of the bullpen with a perfect seventh inning.

The Memphis Redbirds return to AutoZone Park on Thursday, August 6 to continue a six-game homestand against the Nashville Sounds (Triple-A, Milwaukee Brewers) with first pitch scheduled for 6:45 p.m. CDT.
