The Myrtle Beach Pelicans are committed to creating a family-friendly and welcoming environment at the ballpark for all guests. As part of that commitment, we have adopted this written policy addressing fan behavior. The policy includes a Fan Code of Conduct, which is fan-facing and describes how fans are expected to behave.

All Myrtle Beach Pelicans staff, including game-day staff, must receive a copy of this policy before working any games. In addition, all staff must receive annual training on this policy, the substance of the Fan Code of Conduct, and how to respond to prohibited fan behavior. All training will be documented.

A copy of the Fan Code of Conduct can be found at any entrance gate to the ballpark, at any guest services booth, on www.myrtlebeachpelicans.com, and in the official game program.

Fans will be notified before and during the game through public service announcements (“PSAs”) on the main video board that summarize the Fan Code of Conduct, the penalties for violation, and how to report prohibited behavior.

FAN CODE OF CONDUCT - Out of respect for fellow guests, players, coaches, and ballpark staff, all guests are prohibited from:

  • Trespassing on the playing field at any time;
  • Interfering with baseballs that are in play;
  • Throwing or tossing objects;
  • Using foul, obscene or derogatory language (see below) or gestures;
  • Misusing or overconsuming alcohol, including, underage consumption;
  • Behaving in a manner that is disruptive, unruly, or abusive;
  • Accessing areas of the ballpark without a proper ticket, pass, or credential;
  • Misusing tickets, passes, or credentials in any way; or
  • Bringing prohibited items (listed below) into the ballpark.

Furthermore, guests are required to wear shirts and shoes at all times, and guests appearing intoxicated will be ejected from the ballpark and turned over to the Myrtle Beach Police Department.

Derogatory language is defined as offensive language concerning a person’s race, ethnicity, gender, religion, disability, age, sexual orientation, or national origin, and anyone using such language is subject to automatic ejection from the ballpark.

Violations of the Fan Code of Conduct will not be tolerated and may lead to ejection from the ballpark, a ban on attending future games, or other consequences. Guests who are found to have used derogatory language will be ejected from the ballpark.

Guest may report a violation to the Fan Code of Conduct to any game day employee, front office employee, or at Guest Services which is located on the main concourse behind home plate.

Po-Power: A Closer Look Into Catcher Logan Poteet's Stellar Season

At the conclusion of the 2025 season, Alexey Lumpuy paced the Pelicans in home runs hit with 11 on the year. This season, Logan Poteet hit his 12th long ball on June 20th, less than three weeks before the All-Star Break. It has been a remarkable season for the 22-year-old backstop. Poteet spent the entire 2025 campaign with High-A South Bend but began this season in Single-A Myrtle Beach for the first time in his short pro career. The 20th round pick of the Cubs in the 2025 MLB Draft was solid to start the season for the Pelicans but his power swing wasn’t quite there yet. A higher tick in his strikeout numbers would’ve been worrisome to common baseball fan, but the Pelicans coaching staff had faith the tides would turn in his favor.

“He’s turning his front shoulder out, which is making his bat stay through the zone for a shorter amount of time,” Pelicans Hitting Coach Roberto Vaz explained. “Once he makes that adjustment to keep the shoulder in and he improves his timing, his power will start to show.”

On April 28th when the Birds were playing the Columbia Fireflies at home, the power was on full display. He crushed a solo home run over the left field wall. The very next day…he did it again. Poteet’s homers this year would come in different spurts. When he would hit one after a dry spell, more homers would quickly follow.

After putting up five home runs throughout the month of May, Poteet was geared up to put on a show in the month of June. After starting the month in the midst of a six-game hitting streak, his power bat was on full display in the middle part of the month. On June 19th when the Pelicans playing the Delmarva ShoreBirds on the road, Poteet smashed a homer that would kickstart a feat that hadn’t been accomplished by a Pelican since 2024. From June 19th – June 23rd, Poteet hit a home run in every game. Four games, four tanks for the hard-hitting catcher. The last Pelican to do that was Cam Smith back in 2024 when he homered in six consecutive games. Poteet credited his preparation and mindset as the main reasons behind the streak.

“Honestly just rinse and repeating,” Poteet exclaimed. “Coming in everyday with the same mindset and trusting in the plan that we come up with before every game and going with it.”

The amount of preparation that goes into a single baseball game is truly astounding. Players roll into the ballpark around noon to start their daily routine. After a workout/lift, the hitters go hit in the cages to work on fundamentals and their swings but once batting practice and their pregame practice is over, the mental work begins. As if they were students studying for a big exam, every player goes back to the locker room and reads the scouting report. For hitters they are studying each pitcher’s pitches, timing hitches, pickoff moves and more. Poteet has made it known that the preparation can be the difference in finding success or striking out.

“The first thing I look at for a pitcher is their fastball…is it a sinker? is it a four-seam? how hard do they throw it? Then I focus on the two secondary pitches,” Poteet said. “But the biggest thing I look at is what they throw in a 3-2 count. That pitch is more than likely their best pitch and their most comfortable pitch they feel like throwing for a strike…so knowing that going into the at-bat and having all of the advanced data we have just helps out a lot.”

When the month of June concluded, Poteet was slashing .326 (28-for-86) over 22 games with 19 runs scored, seven doubles, one triple, seven home runs, 21 RBI, and 17 walks. On the season with the Pelicans, he hit .272 (52-for-191) with eight doubles, one triple, 14 home runs, 39 RBI, and 38 walks. Those numbers were all the Cubs needed to see for him to earn a promotion up to High-A South Bend on June 30th. What a stellar season for the Pelicans catcher and he will look to continue to move up the rung of the Cubs farm system throughout the coming seasons.
