OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City Dodgers today announced the launch of Dodgers Sports Field Services, a division formed to utilize the extensive turf management expertise of Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark's grounds crew year-round and help improve sports fields and facilities throughout the state of Oklahoma.
Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark Head Groundskeeper Monte McCoy will serve as Vice President of Dodgers Sports Field Services. McCoy will use his 26-plus years of experience, along with the Oklahoma City Dodgers' specialized equipment, to aid municipalities, high schools, parks and recreation departments, athletic complexes, golf courses and more that are looking to improve, create and maintain sports fields.

Rick Newville, former Sports Turf Superintendent for the NCAA Division I Softball Women's College World Series, Head Groundskeeper for the 2004 Olympics softball complex in Athens, Greece and owner of Olympic Sports Turf Services LLC, will join McCoy and the Dodgers Sports Field Services staff. Newville brings more than 20 years of sports turf experience to the organization and will serve as Director of Field Operations.
Dodgers Sports Field Services will be available for hire statewide, offering skills and expertise in a variety of areas of field service such as new field construction, infield renovation, infield laser grading, home plate renovation, pitcher's mound renovation, annual maintenance and site management. Field maintenance services will include topdressing, overseeding, aerification, as well as preseason and postseason cleanup.
"We have a passion for growing the game of baseball and Dodgers Sports Field Services is an extension of that, allowing us to create and maintain first-class facilities for youth and other participants across the state," said OKC Dodgers President/General Manager Michael Byrnes. "Dodgers Sports Field Services allows our grounds crew to utilize their specialized talents and skills beyond the walls of Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark and outside of our baseball season schedule."
The Oklahoma City Dodgers and Dodgers Sports Field Services will host a free Sports Turf Clinic for area coaches and facility managers Oct. 18 at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. Vendors will be on hand and demonstrations will take place on the field from 9 a.m. to noon. Lunch will be served and McCoy will host a question-and-answer session on the field at 1 p.m. For more information, or to register for the free Sports Turf Clinic, call Kyle Logan at (405) 218-2117.
