Of Note:
-The Comets snapped their season-high three-game losing streak and evened their series against Albuquerque, 1-1, with their field trip day win.
-Oklahoma City broke out with four home runs in the game for their highest single-game home run total since hitting a season-high seven homers April 12 in Round Rock. Wednesday marked the third time this season Oklahoma City hit four or more home runs in a game and the output followed a stretch of three consecutive games without a homer…Four different players hit homers for the Comets Wednesday with Dalton Rushing and Ryan Ward hitting OKC’s second back-to-back homers of the season last accomplished April 12 in Round Rock by James Outman and Michael Chavis.
-On the other hand, the three home runs allowed by the Comets set a new season-high mark for an OKC opponent and were the most allowed by OKC since Aug. 14, 2024 in Las Vegas when OKC also allowed three homers.
-The Comets finished the game with five extra-base hits after being held to a total of four over the previous three games combined.
-Esteury Ruiz reached base four times and went 2-for-3 with a double, home run, two walks, two RBI and two runs scored. He has hit safely in 12 of his last 13 games with a plate appearance, collecting 17 hits and scoring 12 runs. He has reached base in 23 of his 24 games with OKC this season.
-Dalton Rushing hit his fourth home run of the season, going 2-for-3 with a walk and two RBI. He has now hit safely in eight of his last nine games, batting 11-for-28 (.393) with four doubles, nine walks, seven runs scored and five RBI. He has also reached base at least twice in eight consecutive starts.
-Ryan Ward went 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBI for his 13th multi-hit game of the season and eighth multi-RBI game. His home run was his eighth of the season to put him into a tie with James Outman for the team lead and was the 62nd home run of his OKC career — most by any OKC player during the Bricktown era (since 1998). Ward holds second place on OKC’s Bricktown-era career list for RBI with 223 and is now seven RBI away from tying the team record of 230 set by Jason Botts (2005-08).
-Austin Gauthier celebrated his 26th birthday by reaching base three times on a single and two walks.
-OKC reliever Noah Davis (2-0) was credited with the win, tossing 2.0 scoreless innings and allowing one hit and one walk with two strikeouts. Ryan Loutos was credited with his first save with the Comets, retiring three of the four batters he faced in the ninth inning.
