Game Summary: The rehabbing Tyler Glasnow struck out nine over 5.1 dominant innings, but the Oklahoma City Comets were limited to one run during a 2-1 defeat against the Sugar Land Space Cowboys Wednesday night at Constellation Field. After both teams tallied one hit through the first five innings, Sugar Land converted a leadoff walk into a run in the sixth inning, scoring on a RBI groundout by Raynel Delgado. The Space Cowboys (32-15/64-57) benefited from a hit batter and two walks in the seventh inning, including one with the bases loaded to extend their lead to 2-0. Hyeseong Kim put the Comets (27-19/68-52) on the board in the ninth inning with a solo home run.

Of Note:

-Each of the first three series between the Comets and Space Cowboys have been tied, 1-1, through two games...Oklahoma City’s five-game winning streak at Constellation Field came to an end…The Comets are now 15-4 in their last 19 games.

-Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Tyler Glasnow made the fourth start of his Major League Rehab Assignment and third with Oklahoma City. Glasnow retired 16 of 18 batters faced across 5.1 innings, with one hit and one walk. At one point between the second and fifth innings, Glasnow retired 11 in a row. He struck out nine batters to tie for the most by an OKC pitcher this season and threw a total of 77 pitches (54 strikes)…Glasnow was charged with a run following his exit and ended up as the tough-luck losing pitcher…Across three starts with OKC, Glasnow has thrown 11.2 innings with two runs, two hits, four walks and 19 strikeouts.

-Across the last seven games, Oklahoma City starting pitchers have tossed 35.1 innings, giving up three runs and 13 hits while striking out 53 batters.

-Comets pitchers struck out 13 batters Wednesday, recording at least 10 strikeouts for the third straight game and the sixth time in the last seven games for a total of 85 strikeouts.

-Ryan Ward went 1-for-3 with a walk to extend his season-best hitting streak to 10 games. He is 16-for-40 (.400) with a double, four homers and 12 RBI during the hitting streak…His single in the sixth inning was the 500th hit of his OKC career.

-Zach Ehrhard reached base three times with a double and a pair of walks. He has now reached base in 25 of his last 26 games, batting .347 while recording 34 hits, 27 walks and scoring 28 runs.

-Hyeseong Kim hit his third homer of the year and second of the month after going deep Aug. 11 vs. Albuquerque.
