Dodgers Open Holiday Weekend With 5-2 Win

Moscoso earns win with six strong innings; Farmer homers and tallies three hits

Nashville, Tenn. - The Oklahoma City Dodgers scored four runs over the first four innings and the pitching staff held the Nashville Sounds to one hit over the final seven innings, leading to a 5-2 Dodgers win at First Tennessee Park Friday night. With the win, the Dodgers (29-16) improved to 2-3

Nashville, Tenn. - The Oklahoma City Dodgers scored four runs over the first four innings and the pitching staff held the Nashville Sounds to one hit over the final seven innings, leading to a 5-2 Dodgers win at First Tennessee Park Friday night.
 
With the win, the Dodgers (29-16) improved to 2-3 on their current road trip and advanced to 4-1 against the Sounds (24-23) this season.
For the third straight game, the Dodgers found themselves trailing after one inning. In the bottom of the first, doubles by Nick Martini and Josh Phegley gave Nashville a 1-0 lead.
The Dodgers jumped in front in the second inning. With runners at the corners and one out, Jacob Scavuzzo hit a sharp grounder to the right side of the infield. Nashville second baseman Melvin Mercedes couldn't handle it, as the ball skipped into right field. Kyle Farmer scored on the play to tie the game.
Later in the inning with the bases loaded and two out, Tim Locastro was plunked by a pitch on his left elbow, forcing in another run and giving the Dodgers a 2-1 lead.
The Sounds had the bases empty with two outs in the second inning but rallied to score a run, culminating in a RBI single by Martini.
The Dodgers responded in the third inning. With the bases loaded and two out, Danny Espinosa lined a single to center field to regain the lead at 3-2.
In the next inning it was Kyle Garlick's turn to strike with two outs. He sent a sharp grounder up the middle to plate Locastro to give the Dodgers a two-run advantage in the fourth.
Leading off the seventh inning, Farmer ambushed the first pitch from new pitcher Jake Sanchez, connecting on his second homer of the season.
Farmer led the OKC offense with a game-high three hits. In addition to his homer, he also doubled and scored twice.
The Dodgers outhit Nashville, 10-5. Edwin Ríos notched two hits in his season debut, and Matt Beaty singled and walked his Triple-A debut.
Locastro tied a PCL record by getting hit by a pitch three times in one game, last done in 2016 by Albuquerque's Dustin Garneau.
Following Martini's RBI single in the in second inning, the Dodgers pitching staff retired 22 of the final 24 Nashville batters of the game, which included a run of 15 straight immediately after Martini's hit. 
Starting pitcher Guillermo Moscoso turned in another solid start, allowing two runs and four hits over six innings. After five of the first 10 batters he faced reached base en route to scoring two runs, Moscoso (2-2) retired the final 13 batters to step up to the plate against him.
Relievers Joe Broussard and Pat Venditte kept the Sounds scoreless for an inning, and Yimi García retired the side in order in the ninth to earn his first save.
Nashville starting pitcher James Naile took the loss and was bounced from the game after a season-low 3.1 innings. Naile (4-5) four runs and six hits, with three walks and three strikeouts.
