Storm Chasers Send Dodgers to 4-3 Defeat

Papillion, Neb. - The Omaha Storm Chasers defeated the Oklahoma City Dodgers, 4-3, Thursday night at Werner Park, sending the Dodgers to a third straight loss as the teams closed out a four-game series.
The Dodgers took a quick lead in the first inning, but the Storm Chasers (58-64) scored three runs in the third inning, taking the lead for good on the way to winning their third straight game in the series.

The Dodgers (63-57) were held to five hits Thursday and have scored a total of four runs on 17 total hits over the last three games combined.
With the loss, the Dodgers have now dropped eight of their last 10 games and 10 of the last 13 games.
Oklahoma City quickly got on the scoreboard Thursday night.
Tim Locastro led off the game and was hit by pitch. He advanced to second base on a sacrifice bunt by Henry Ramos and scored on a RBI double by Donovan Solano for a 1-0 Dodgers lead.
The Storm Chasers took the lead in the bottom of the third inning, scoring three runs.
Humberto Arteaga led off the bottom of the inning with a single and Brian Goodwin followed with a walk. They each advanced a base on an OKC error and Arteaga scored from third base on a sacrifice fly by Billy Burns to tie the game, 1-1. 
Paulo Orlando, Frank Schwindel and Cam Gallagher then connected on three straight singles for the Storm Chasers to bring home two more runs for a 3-1 advantage. The Storm Chasers proceeded to load the bases with two outs later in the inning, leading to a Dodgers pitching change. Reliever Michael Johnson entered the game to pitch for Oklahoma City and got Jack Lopez to fly out to end the inning and keep the Dodgers' deficit at two runs.
The Storm Chasers loaded the bases again in the fourth inning with two outs, but Johnson got Cam Gallagher to pop out to second baseman Locastro in shallow right-center field to escape the jam.
With two outs and a runner at first base in the sixth inning, Omaha's Paulo Orlando lined a RBI double into right-center field to boost Omaha's lead to 4-1.
Oklahoma City cut into Omaha's lead in the seventh inning, scoring two runs. Connor Joe led off the seventh inning with a single and Will Smith followed with a double, advancing Joe to third base, as Smith accounted for two of the Dodgers' five hits. 
Andrew Toles came up to bat next and grounded out to bring home Joe, cutting Omaha's lead to 4-2 and advancing Smith to third base. Rocky Gale followed with a sacrifice fly to being home Smith and cut Omaha's lead to one run. 
But that would be the closest the Dodgers would get on the scoreboard.
Omaha starting pitcher Ryan Kalish (6-5) tied his season high, pitching 7.0 innings as he picked up his sixth win of the season. He allowed three runs on five hits with one walk and six strikeouts.
Omaha relievers Sam Selman, Pedro Fernandez and Eric Stout combined to allow just one walk over the final two innings. Stout secured the game's final out for his fourth save of the season.
Dodgers starting pitcher Logan Bawcom (1-3) exited the game in the third inning and was charged with the loss, allowing three runs and four hits over 2.2 innings with three walks and two strikeouts.
The Dodgers next return home to play their final 11 home games of the regular season during a span of 11 days at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
The Dodgers begin a four-game series against the Iowa Cubs at 7:05 p.m. Friday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. Friday is Hometown Heroes Military Celebration Night, presented by Boeing, and special festivities will be held throughout the evening, culminating with postgame fireworks, presented by TerraScapes.
