Woodbridge, VA---Earlier today, the Carolina League announced that Potomac Nationals RF Juan Soto  has been named the Carolina League Player of the Week for the week of April 30th to May 6th. It is the first "Player of the Week" award for a Potomac player this season.
Soto, called up to the P-Nats from the Class-A Hagerstown Suns on April 24th, has torn through Carolina League pitching. In 12 games with Potomac, the 19-year-old has hit .388 with six home runs, 10 extra-base hits, and 15 RBIs. In his award-winning week, Soto hit .522 (12-23), notched five home runs, drove in 10 runs, and scored 10 runs. His OPS for the previous week was 1.868, easily the highest for any P-Nats player in a single week this season.

Signed by the Washington Nationals in July of 2015, Soto has produced offensively at every level so far, always as one of the youngest players in the league. Currently the youngest hitter in the Carolina League, Soto is tied for the league lead in home runs (6), and in the top 20 in RBIs (15), despite the fact that he's played in only 12 games, compared to 27-30 games for the remainder of the players in the league.
The Dominica-born outfielder earned the South Atlantic League Player of the Month award for April, even though he earned a call-up to Potomac before the final week of the month. Soto also earned the South Atlantic League Player of the Week award for the week of 4/15.
