BOX SCORE

(Binghamton, NY) - The Reading Fightin Phils (6-9) captured a 5-4 win over the Binghamton Rumble Ponies (6-8) on Sunday afternoon in the series finale from Mirabito Stadium. With the win, Reading is victorious in its third out of four games, earning a series split this week.

Reading struck first with a run in the top of the second. With two runners aboard, Jim Haley singled to center field to score Caleb Ricketts and make it 1-0 Fightin Phils. But, the Rumble struck back quickly in the bottom of the third. Jett Williams hit his third double of the season to right field to score Hayden Senger. Then, Rhylan Thomas singled to center to score Wyatt Young. Finally, with bases loaded, Jose Peroza worked a walk to plate Jett Williams and make it 3-1 Binghamton.

The Fightin Phils got two back in the top of the fourth through. With the bases loaded, Robert Moore singled to left field to bring home both Trevor Schwecke and Bryce Ball. That tied the game at three. In the bottom of the fifth, a Kevin Parada single scored Williams to once again propel the Rumble Ponies in front 4-3.

From there, it was all Fightin Phils. Moore's hot day continued, as he singled to right field to score Casey Martin and tie the game at four. Then, with Moore on third, a passed ball by Binghamton catcher Kevin Parada scored Moore to put Reading up 5-4, a lead they would not relinquish.

Efrain Contreras started and lasted 2.2 innings, allowing three runs on three hits, with four walks and a strikeout Konnor Ash followed, allowing a run on a hit, with two walks in two innings. From there, the bullpen was locked down. Carlos Francisco, Eury Ramos (W, 1-0), Tristan Garnett, and Tommy McCollum (S, 1) combined to toss 4.1 scoreless frames, allowing just two hits, to finish off the win for the Fightin Phils. Ramos picked up the win in his first appearance with Reading.

On the Binghamton side, Max Kranick allowed two runs, with one being earned, in 3.1 innings in his second rehab start of the week. Blade Tidwell (L, 1-2) could not repeat Tuesday's results, as the usual starter went four innings and allowed two runs on two hits, with a strikeout.

Offensively, Moore led the way with two hits and three RBI. Gabriel Rincones Jr. had a double and Casey Martin, making his first professional start in center field, chipped in a triple to cap off his strong series.
